Tas input into Remote Area Tax and Concessions Review

Draft report released
The Productivity Commission is reviewing the operation and impacts of the zone tax offset and related remote area tax concessions and payments to provide recommendations on the appropriate form and function of such assistance into the future.
Some areas of Tasmania are eligible for the payments or concessions, but many of the classifications and zones are outdated. For instance, areas in the Central Highlands are not eligible despite having similar characteristics of remote area living as eligible regions.
RDA Tasmania made a submission into the initial round of consultations which has been quoted in the draft report. The Commission now invites further information and feedback on their draft report by Friday 11 October 2019.
