What is Studentworks Inc?
Studentworks is an alternate education and training program for students 14- 16 years, who learn in a practical manner. They encourage students to remain in education, whilst providing training in employability and life skills within their industrial workplace environment located in Rocherlea. Studentworks has been operating since 1978.

Production services
Studentworks looks for products that are suited to the skills of their young people (14-16 years), repetitive in nature and where possible undertaken in production runs. Students learning is through “hands on” by producing products.
Examples include:
Metalwork: General metal fabrication including metal grates, outdoor furniture and rubbish bins for local companies, councils, and other not for profit organisations. Studentworks is able to have products, galvanised, powder coated to customers’ requirements.
Woodwork: Pine beds, use of a Computer Numeric Cutting (CNC) machine for flat pack furniture and architectural components.
Packaging: Gaskets, cutting, strapping and stacking cardboard.
Their customers include:
Councils - Launceston, Meander Valley, West Tamar. Examples include outdoor seating in metal and timber, also catering for disability access. Rubbish bins in various designs.
Hudson Civil Products - Metal grates, channel and curbing, packaging of gaskets for irrigations systems.
Migrant Resource Centre - Pine beds for recently arrived humanitarian entrants.
Festivale - Round tables
Equestrian Centre - Wooden feed bins and lockers
Orora Packaging - Cutting cardboard for pizza outlets and food manufacturing companies
