Inspiring Australia - Science Engagement Programme

The programme forms part of the Australian Government’s National Innovation and Science Agenda - Inspiring all Australians in Digital Literacy and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). It will provide funding from 2016-17 to 2019-20 for a range of activities that will be delivered under the Inspiring Australia banner.

Funding will be available for hands-on learning activities, prizes and awards for STEM, opportunities to compete internationally in the STEM arena, and initiatives aimed at inspiring the broader community to develop digital literacy and public engagement with STEM. 

The programme includes the following elements which offer grants or prizes through open application processes: 

National Science Week Grants that supports the delivery of science engagement activities during National Science Week that occurs in August each year. The next National Science Week will be held from 12 – 20 August 2017. 

Funding of up to $2 million over 4 years will be available from 2016-17 to 2019-20. The minimum grant amount is $2,000 and the maximum grant amount is $20,000.

The 2017 funding round for National Science Week Grants opened to applications yesterday and will close at 4.00pm AEDT on 9 November 2016. Please read the Minister’s media release.
