Tassie volunteers are making a world of difference
National Volunteer Week is here, an entire week dedicated to recognising and celebrating volunteer contributions, both big and small.
Volunteering makes a huge impact to regional development and RDA Tasmania wish to acknowledge the generous contribution of Tasmania’s volunteers.
National Volunteer Week Facts – Tasmania
- Volunteering provides a total benefit to Tasmania of $4.9 Billion.
- 4 out of 5 Tasmanian’s volunteer donating 7.1 million hours (SOVR 2014).
- Tasmanians want to volunteer more.
- People aged between 65 and 74 volunteer on average 22.8 hours per month.
- There are approximately 2,000 volunteer involving organisations throughout Tasmania across the non-for-profit, government and private sectors.
- Volunteering is Tasmania’s largest industry by employment.
- Over 4,000 tourists visit Tasmanian for the purpose of volunteering.
- For every dollar invested in volunteering, at least $4 in benefits is returned to the community.
