Collaborating with South West Western Australia
Posted on by Carmen
Do you wish to work with like-minded people in South West Western Australia to support mutual economic benefit?
In August 2018, a formal agreement was signed by RDA Tasmania and RDA South West (Western Australia) to establish collaborative working relationships designed to support economic growth in the each region.
The MOU commits the RDA’s to identify practical opportunities for our businesses, not for profits, local governments and educational institutions to work directly with each other to grow our respective regions.
This ground breaking and innovative partnership recognises similarities between Tasmania and the South West of Western Australia. Work has already commenced with the University of Tasmania in the education sector along with the timber and creative sectors.
Despite being on opposite sides of the country, Tasmania and south west Western Australia are regions that share many similarities such as wine, food and forest products, all with excellent prospects to be innovative and be key contributors to our regions' economies. The key to this arrangement is that, due to the large distance separating them, the two regions rarely compete in the same markets.
A virtual roundtable on Thursday 31st January, focussing on the industry sectors of Forestry, Tourism, Food & Wine (incl. dairy) and the Creative industries will be the first step towards identifying opportunities for collaboration. This roundtable will be supported by RDA Tasmania and RDA South West to facilitate discussions between stakeholders in Tasmania and south west Western Australia via video conference.
Whilst places are limited, we would welcome any stakeholders who think they may be able to benefit by participating in this initiative. Interest can be lodged by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org by COB 23rd January 2019.
