Duplicate of Industrial Precincts

With the finalisation of the Northern Tasmanian Industrial Land Strategy in late 2014, a recommendation in the report identified the need to promote and communicate the region's significant industrial precincts to a wider audience. The development of a regional prospectus that contained qualitative information on each industrial precinct would go a long way to 'selling' the benefits of investing in each precinct.

The Project

To support the region's economy the RDA Tasmania Committee has partnered on a Northern Tasmania Development project to promote Tasmania's industrial precincts.  This is an opportunity to grow and expand economic activity by marketing the comparative advantage to investors of the major industrial precincts.

Stage One has focussed on the north of the region and was a collaborative project with the Office of the Co-ordinator General, Northern Tasmania Development, George Town Council, City of Launceston, Meander Valley Council, Northern Midlands Council and SGS Economic and Planning.

The project took a design-led thinking approach and worked closely with developers to ensure the information presented was engaging and informative for them and their clients.  RDA Tasmania contributed to the design and delivery of the project.

Achievements

In early 2016 technical guides for four industrial precincts in Northern Tasmania were released which included interactive mapping and a broad range of information that had never been available in one place before.  SGS Economics and Planning utilised their GIS talents and knowledge of planning and development to create the guides.

The four guides are:

Bell Bay Industrial Site

Launceston Technopark Precinct

TRANSlink Industrial Precinct

Valley Central Industrial Precinct
